Dummy Bar Head for Continuous Casting
Square, rectangular and round dummy bar heads for billet and bloom continuous casting machines, from 100 × 100 mm to 200 × 285 mm and Ø120 to Ø230 mm. Manufactured to customer drawings, mould dimensions and caster requirements; replacement heads made from samples when the original supplier has discontinued the part.
Dummy Bar Head for Continuous Casting
The dummy bar head is installed at the front end of the dummy bar and positioned at the lower part of the mould. It provides the initial connection between the dummy bar and the newly solidified steel strand during casting start-up. A properly designed head must match both the mould section and the dummy bar connection.

Square Dummy Bar Head
Commonly used with billet continuous casting machines: 100 × 100, 120 × 120, 130 × 130, 150 × 150, 160 × 160, 165 × 165, 180 × 180 and 200 × 200 mm, plus customized square sections. Designed to match the corresponding copper mould tube, water jacket and dummy bar assembly.
Rectangular Dummy Bar Head
For rectangular billet and bloom casting: 160 × 200, 160 × 220, 160 × 260, 165 × 225, 165 × 280, 150 × 180, 150 × 270, 180 × 240, 200 × 240, 200 × 285, 150 × 330, 165 × 300, 150 × 300, 150 × 250, 180 × 220 mm and customized dimensions.
Round Dummy Bar Head
For round billet casters, manufactured to the mould diameter: Ø120, Ø150, Ø160, Ø180, Ø190 and Ø230 mm reference sizes. The actual head design depends on the caster, mould design and dummy bar connection.
Dummy Bar Head Structure
A typical dummy bar head includes:

Configuration varies with the casting machine; for replacement orders, provide the original drawing or photographs with dimensions.
Dummy Bar Head for R4, R5, R6 and R9 Casters
Matched to the R4, R5, R6 or R9 copper mould tube: the head section corresponds to the mould section, the rear connection to the dummy bar body.
Dummy Bar Head Materials
Manufactured from carbon steel, alloy steel, heat-resistant steel or customized grades according to operating temperature, mechanical loading and customer requirements. Material grade and heat treatment are specified to the original equipment documentation.
Dummy Bar Head and Copper Mould Tube
The head works directly with the lower section of the mould, so it is designed together with the mould section, casting radius and dummy bar connection.

Heads are manufactured from customer drawings, existing dummy bar heads, photographs, mould section, copper mould tube dimensions, casting radius, dummy bar connection and casting machine model. Even without the original drawing, photos + dimensions + casting section let our engineering team evaluate the design. Replacement heads keep the same installation dimensions when the original supplier has discontinued the part.
