Dummy Bar voor continugieten
Our dummy bars are designed for continugieten machines used in knuppel, blooms and other staal casting applications. The dummy bar provides the initial connection between the gietvorm and the withdrawal system, starts the casting sequence and guides the newly solidified strand through the gietmachine.
The dummy bar is inserted into the lower part of the gietvorm before casting. At the start of casting the dummy bar-kop closes the gietvorm outlet while the first solidified strand connects to the dummy bar; the withdrawal and straightening equipment then pulls the strand through the machine.
A complete system includes a dummy bar-kop, transition section and dummy bar body. Star or flexible configurations are supplied according to the gietmachine design.
Dummy Bar System for Billet Continugieten
A typical system consists of the parts below, configured to the gietmachine layout, gietvorm section, withdrawal system and op maater equipment. Manufactured from op maater drawings, existing samples and equipment dimensions.
Star Dummy Bar
Star dummy bars suit continugieten machines where a rigid connection and controlled guidance through the gietmachine are required. Typisch applications:

The body, head and connection interface are manufactured to the op maater's original design.
Flexibel Dummy Bar
Flexibel dummy bars are for gietmachines where the dummy bar must follow a curved or flexible operating path. They are configured with suitable connecting sections and joints according to the gietmachine design, for op maat applications and replacement requirements.
Dummy Bar-kop
The dummy bar-kop is the working end of the dummy bar, positioned inside the gietvorm at the casting start. Its functions:
- Closing the lower opening of the gietvorm before casting
- Connecting with the initial solidified strand
- Transmitting withdrawal force from the dummy bar
- Guiding the initial strand into the withdrawal and koeling system
- Separating from the knuppel after the casting start

Actual dimensions follow the op maater's gietmachine and gietvorm drawings: dummy bar dimensions and connection geometry must match the complete gietmachine system, not only the knuppel section.
Dummy Bar for R4, R5, R6 and R9 Moulds
Dummy bar heads and transition components are matched to the gietvorm section and gietmachine radius of the R4, R5, R6 or R9 copper gietvorm buis. For example, a op maater using a 100 × 100 × 780 mm R5 copper gietvorm buis needs a dummy bar-kop and connection system designed for the same gietmachine.
Dummy Bar and Koperen gietvormbuis Compatibility
Typisch system: Koperen gietvormbuis → Dummy Bar-kop → Transition → Dummy Bar Body → Withdrawal & Straightening Machine. The dummy bar is an integral part of the complete gietvorm and withdrawal system.
